Annie Jiang joined us as an awesome volunteer this entire summer in various activities, including animal care, community compost builds, Open Hours, and farming.
Here she describes her experience:
“Volunteering at Earth Matter has made my summer so special and memorable. My favorite part of Earth Matter was definitely the community there. I always felt welcomed and it felt like a family. I remember being stung by a wasp on the first day I volunteered, and the overwhelming amount of care I was given was incredible. I loved being surrounded by such knowledgeable people who were so passionate about the environment and willing to share knowledge. The morning question of the days were always fun, learning different things about each other, like our interesting and crazy hair cutting/styling experiences. The hardest thing for me to try was probably the compost builds as they were physically demanding, but it was a fun experience getting to work together with the staff and meeting new people.”
She is a great example of a young person who applies herself to try new things, contribute and have fun. Thank you for your dedication Annie, you’re a Star!
