Our Shell Collection team visited BOP’s hatchery and facilities and learned about how shells are reused for reef ecosystem restoration.
Milestones and More
The Earth Matter Shell Collection Program is 1.5 years old! We currently pick up from over 50 restaurant partners and have reclaimed more than 300k lbs of shells! You can see our collection truck driving around Manhattan and Brooklyn on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Also, soon you will be able to see our new program partners’ logos on the truck: ExxonMobil, which provides space in Brooklyn used as a recycled shel “depot”, United Metro Energy, which donates biodiesel for our truck; and Crave Fishbar, one of our restaurant partners which chose BOP to be its annual charity organization.
