JUNE 10 A Time for Healing: Dreaming with Lavender A Herbal Workshop with Yonnette Fleming Join herbal wysewoman/Hattie Carthan herban farm founder Yonnette Fleming in a multi-sensory exploration of lavender. Participants learn about the myriad of basics ways to work with herbal allies growing in the urban landscape for wellbeing and health. We end our time together by crafting a simple relaxation medicine from lavender growing on the farm for our end meditation circle.

JUNE 17 Father’s Day Boutonniere workshop Come away from this floral design workshop with a custom boutonniere to gift your friend, partner, dad, grandfather or uncle for Father’s Day. All materials will be provided.

JULY 8 Pollinator Walk with the Island Bee Project The goal of The Island Bee Project is to “inspire people of all ages to become honeybee advocates through education and creativity…” Join Carolina and Stacey from the Island Bee Project in the Lavender Field or a chance to see and learn about the wide variety of native and non-native pollinators that thrive right here on Governors Island. We’ll be on the look-out for various types of bees, butterflies, moths and other species.

JULY 14 – 15 All weekend! Community Harvest Days Join us for our second annual community harvest. Breathe in the sweet and calming scent emanating from over 500 plants. Learn how to harvest. Participants can take some lavender stems home.

JULY 22 Lavender: Witnessing Duality of Self in Gentleness + Strength with Karen M.Rose of Sacred Vibes Apothecary
Join in an exploration of Lavender’s duality. With properties that act as both stimulant and relaxant, aphrodisiac and calmative, perfume and bug repellant, Lavender provides introspect into our own complexity. We will speak about Lavender as a powerful healing herb and spiritual warrior.  We will share how Lavender offers support, resiliency, and centeredness in our daily lives. And make Lavender medicine to take home with us!
